Global Citizenship (Toronto) 2016

A first year experience program, the ucalgarycares Global Citizenship program will share similar values to that of the Common Reading Program. It will foster a sense of community among student participants to further connections built in other first year experience programs.

Students will travel to Toronto over Reading Week and work alongside organizations with diverse approaches to addressing social concerns within their communities. Students will be encouraged to think critically while completing their readings, participating in discussions and actively reflecting on their experiences.

Through this experience, students will come to understand what it means to be an active citizen and how to understand their unique strengths and leadership potential.

Participants will be exposed to various approaches to social change and equipped with the tools to create a safe, inclusive and supportive environment on campus, within their field and within the greater Calgary community.
