Building Community is in NOLA!

We have finally made it safe and sound to New Orleans and are settling in here at Annunciation Mission, our home for the week!

We sadly do not have any of our checked luggage due to the power outage back at YYC today. So, we’re waiting for them to deliver our bags (hopefully soon). Apart from that, we are all pretty tired and ready to rest. The flights were quite exciting though! We saw Ryan Anderson and Gia Allemand (a New Orleans Hornets player and former Bachelor contestant) at the Houston airport while we were waiting. We didn’t really know until we got here and Googled them that they were famous. But cool nonetheless!

We finished off the night watching a clip from Spike Lee’s “If God is Willing and Da Creek Don’t Rise” featuring Dr. Martin Luther King school in the Lower Ninth Ward. We’re going to be visiting there tomorrow along with some other parts of the Lower Ninth. It’s going to be a very informative and thought provoking visit, I’m sure.

That’s all for tonight though! We’re off to bed (or to wait for our bags…)
