Airport Madness + Luggage Roulette = Team Building

We arrived in NOLA super stoked, Brayden was jumping up and down! Unfortunately our bags did not arrive with us! We had a crazy day. It was wiiiiiiiild.

As we sat there brooding about our missing bags, it was hard not to think about all the possessions people lost due to Hurricane Katrina. It really put things into perspective for us. After visiting the Lower 9th Ward and later watching Spike Lee’s documentary If God Is Willing And Da Creek Don’t Rise and seeing the physical, emotional, and mental damage to the communities of NOLA, we realized that the effects of Katrina reached a lot further than we initially thought and our problems paled in comparison. Talking to Nat Turner and seeing OSBG really opened our eyes to the potential for the community to revitalize and to the challenges residents continue to face after rebuilding.

It was a bit of an adventure getting here, but we are very excited for our Habitat for Humanity build tomorrow!
