Looking Back: ucalgarycares 2012 – New Orleans

Last year, 23 students participated in ucalgarycares New Orleans. Our program involved renovating Katrina-damaged homes and working with an urban agriculture project. Our team learned about inequality in the education system, and the impact of the storm on community. Last year’s program fed into the development of two projects – one that focuses on Food and Justice and continues to work with urban agriculture projects and examine food security, and another that looks at Building Community while working with Habitat for Humanity in the 7th ward. Stay tuned for pictures and stories from this year’s learning experience!
