The CCEL is very excited that in just a few short days three ucalgarycares (formerly Calgary Serves) reading week programs will be running in both Calgary & New Orleans. These three programs will engage more than 50 students in intensive service-learning experiences in volunteer service and hands-on learning about salient community issues.
- The Homelessness & Mental Health at Home team will learn about the issues of homelessness and mental health in Calgary while working with the Mustard Seed.
- The Building Community in New Orleans group will explore the ideas of community while volunteering with Habitat for Humanity.
- The Food & Justice in New Orleans group will explore the issues of food security and social justice while working with urban agriculture projects in New Orleans.
Each group will have exciting and unique learning experiences and will document their journeys here. Follow along with the ucalgarycares project and check out our Twitter @UofC_CCEL for up-to-date information about the program.
