Hello Lovelies! I’m Shakira.

My name is Shakira and I am in my third year of Communication Studies with a Minor in Indigenous Studies. I am so very excited for this trip. I remember Erin coming into my General Studies 407 class and mentioning that she will be taking students to New Orleans, I was hooked from that moment on. I am going on this trip for many reasons. The first is that I have done many volunteer building trips to Tijuana, Mexico and it has instilled a love for fighting for those that deserve a basic fundamental human right – a home. To have a home to live in is something we take for granted. However, as many of us know, it is something that has been robbed from many of the people in New Orleans due to the catastrophe of Hurricane Katrina. I truly believe that everyone has it within themselves to do something to better the situation of others in times of sadness and crisis. I am open to everything this vibrant city has to offer me and my fellow classmates and I am so excited to share it with you all.

Until next time!

Cheers,

Shakira

Sissey, I am so proud of you for doing this, even though it means you can’t go to Mexico with me this year!(haha)
I hope you, the girls and Gerald have a wonderful and safe time! Miss you both a bunch! (From the whole family, including Champ who is missing you dearly as well!)
    HAVE FUN!! 🙂
